Scholarship Opportunities
In addition to the financial aid options found on our website, there are many scholarship opportunities available to our students. In general, students must be currently enrolled in school prior to applying for these scholarships. Below is a list of reputable scholarship programs affiliated with the cosmetology industry. The Joe Francis Haircare Scholarship Foundation -- $1,000
- Completed scholarship application
- Applications are accepted from January 1st through June 1st
- Awarded in September of each year
- One-page essay
- Sponsor information and his or her letter of recommendation
AHBAI Fred Luster, Sr. Education Foundation -- up to $500.00
- To be eligible for a scholarship, students must have an 85 percent or higher average in school and must have completed a minimum of 300 hours. Extracurricular activities, attendance records and previous competitions/awards will also be taken into consideration.
- Applications must be postmarked November 30.
Sally Beauty Supply Scholarships -- $1,000
- Five scholarships to high school graduates, under the age of 26, desiring to enter the cosmetology profession.
- Three scholarships to current NCA members for continuing education in the field of cosmetology.
- Two scholarships to the children or grandchildren of current NCA members for their use in pursuing advanced education at the college level.
- Application deadline is January 15th.
Sports Clips Scholarship -- $1,000
- Deadline May 31, 2010
- Scholarship Program, 25 Cosmetology Students will each be awarded a $1,000 scholarship provided by Sport Clips. A selection committee comprised of Sport Clips Area Developers, Team Leaders and SCI Support Team Members will review all eligible applications. There is no limit to the number of applicants from a member school but there will be a limit of one scholarship recipient chosen from an individual school per year for this program.
Dream Shears/Trade Essentials Scholarship -- $500
- Deadline May 31, 2010
- Ten $500 scholarships will be awarded
- Student must be midway through training, have maintained 8-% attendance and grade average, as well as demonstrate financial need through a 500 - 800 word essay and application.
Diamond Beauty Products Scholarship -- $1,000
- Five (5) $1,000 Scholarships
- Five Cosmetology Students will each be awarded a $1,000 scholarship provided by Diamond Beauty Products. The deadline to submit applications is January 31, 2009.
NCEA Esthetician Scholarship -- $1,000
- Esthetician students will be eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship while attending school. These incentive scholarships will be awarded to students that demonstrate good performance in school as well as financial need.
- A 250-word typed essay of the applicant's financial situation, and their desire to become an esthetician will determine the Scholarship Winner. Applicants must have enrolled and begun classes in an esthetician only training program by the application deadline and maintain at least 80% attendance and 80% grade average.
- Fill out form, attach a short typed explanation of your financial need, as well as your desire to receive the scholarship, and mail to NCEA, P. O. Box 484 Spring Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ 07451-0484.
